Channel 2 News Interviews Partner Charles Pursley About New Falcons Stadium Land

The site where the new Falcons stadium will be built includes a small patch of gravel parking lot property. The owner does not want to hold up the plans to build the new stadium, but having owned this piece of land since 1902, simply wants just compensation for the best use of the property. If an agreement over price cannot be made, the state plans to turn to eminent domain to acquire the property. In its recent report, Channel 2 News interviewed Partner Charles Pursley, who not only is the prominent scholar in Georgia on Eminent Domain, but also represents the owner of this controversial piece of property. GAWL Foundation Honors Managing Partner Christian Torgrimson With Prestigious Award

Managing Partner Christian Torgrimson was awarded the GAWL Foundation Honorable Debra Bernes Volunteer Award for 2013 this Wednesday. Awarded in the memory of the Honorable Debra Bernes, this award recognizes a GAWL member who has a track record of exceptional service to the greater community through pro bono work and community service. After helping to establish the GAWL Foundation, Christian went on to serve two years as the GAWL Foundation’s founding president. She has now served more than 10 years as a member of GAWL’s executive board. Her leadership of the GAWL Foundation over the past decade, and GAWL as a whole, have been true to GAWL’s mission of supporting and encouraging professional women lawyers, as well as contributing to the betterment of the communities we live and work in. This piece of land is currently in negotiations to be bought for the new stadium—the state offered $1.2 million, and the appraised value is $12 million. If an agreement cannot be made, it is likely that the state will turn to eminent domain to acquire the property.
