Partner Julie Sellers appointed to the Atlanta Urban Design Commission!

julie_sellers_297x3001Atlanta City Council appointed Partner Julie Sellers as the newest Urban Design Commission (UDC) member.   The UDC is the agency responsible for developing and administering Atlanta’s historic preservation and urban design activities.  Julie brings a legal perspective and land use experience when reviewing proposed development within the City’s historic and landmarked areas and buildings.  As part of the UDC, Julie will also review proposed parks and development on property owned by the City.  Congratulations Julie!  Read more about the Urban Design Commission here.

Partner Doug Dillard Quoted in The Atlanta Business Chronicle

Partner Doug Dillard was recently quoted in The Atlanta Business Chronicle in an article featuring the possible Dunwoody Crown Towers project. Dillard, who is teaming up with the developer to rezone the property, stated, “Dunwoody has an opportunity to show the country how to convert traditional, suburban retail and office park into a true, transit-oriented urban node served by transit”. This project consists of 2 separate sites which ultimately will become a large mixed use development that is a vital step in the urbanization of Dunwoody. PFT is one of six diverse organizations selected by ULI as a leading example of how to create an environment of growth for women. Partners Doug Dillard and Julie Sellers successfully challenged the rezoning of a client’s property before the Gwinnett County Superior Court in Roberts v. Gwinnett County. The Court found the zoning was unconstitutional, null and void.  On October 9th, the Fulton County Daily Report featured the victory in “Judge Calls Foul on Rezoning Around Gwinnett Braves Ballpark,” highlighting the Court’s ruling.  According to the Order, the County’s errors include allowing a non-owner to apply for rezoning without consent of the owner, publishing legal notices of the rezoning hearing that erroneously identify the owner as Brand Properties, and failing to post proper signs on each parcel to give notice of the rezoning.
